The Demise of British Distance Running
Scary stats in a feature looking at the distance-running decline in today's AW. In 1985 GB had 112 sub-14:20 5000m men. This year, only 41.

Mobility vs Stiffness
The Lunge Test
With this test, we’re looking for enough ankle dorsiflexion for the tibial angle to reach 35-38 degrees (versus vertical), with the heel still on the ground.
Ian Griffiths gives a great explanation of the Lunge Test in this article on his blog.
Stiffness & Mobility in all the right places…
Neil recorded this video while working with the Kenyan Team before the London 2012 Olympics. It beautifully shows the mobility available at the hips, combined with the ‘spring’ or appropriate ‘stiffness’ at the ankles.
